About Smoke Showing
Smoke Showing leather helmet repair started out as a hobby in 1996. I started refurbishing a few of my own leather helmets and then a few for local volunteer fire stations. I worked out of my basement and my father’s garage. I always received complements, so my wife decided a website would be a good idea. Well as the say, the rest is history. Today, Smoke Showing helmet repair refurbs approx. 75 leather helmets for customers and 30 or so that are bought by the business and refurbed and sold per year. We also do smaller repairs like liners, front holders, etc. I now work out of a larger shop with storage and the latest equipment and tools. I also became certified by Cairns as a repair technician. As you can see we keep plenty busy. All this is done part time as my regular full time job is a career fireman. My wife, son and father help me out from time to time. My wife does the accounting/book keeping. My son helps with packaging and misc. My father does some of the painting from time to time. I do the disassembly, stripping, repair, cleaning, painting, reflective striping, assembly, emails, and shipping.
I enjoy collecting fire memorabilia, pump primers, baseball, football, hockey, hunting, fishing, camping, country music, rodeos, and most of all my family. Been married to my beautiful and supportive wife for over 13 years. We have a teenage son and a toddler daughter. I have been a volunteer firefighter since 1992 and became a career firefighter in 2004.
